Lighting and Atmosphere in Ghost DetectiveIn my work on Ghost Detective, I focused on creating atmospheric lighting that enhanced the storytelling. For busy locations like Royal Street, I used local values to keep backgrounds vibrant but unobtrusive, utilizing soft shadows and intentional light shapes to emphasize the characters.I paid attention to integrating local New Orleans colors, balancing cool greens from foliage with warm sunlight. Shadows were used not only to add depth but also to narratively guide the viewer’s eye. I ensured even neutral scenes felt dynamic by adding warmth through bounce light and enhancing contrast with subtle atmospheric effects. For scenes with foliage, I emphasized translucency, carefully lighting plants against bright backdrops to make them pop. Throughout, I used area lights to add warmth and control the contrast, maintaining a lively, mystical feel in every shot.
